John,
While we face many
challenges, I’m reminded every day of the
generosity, resilience, and hope that are all around us, in every
special neighborhood of this great city. This holiday season is a little different
from the last – as we emerge from the height of last year’s pandemic,
we are adjusting as a community to what is our “new
normal”.
I have been lucky to be able to
gather safely with so many communities across San Francisco. From
celebrating the holiday season and serving meals to families in
Chinatown, to helping pass out gifts to excited kids and ensuring they
could let Santa know their wish list this Christmas – these events bring back my own childhood
memories of people’s generosity and the community support my own
family received. Despite
the challenges we have endured together, the spirit of San Francisco
is alive and well.
Our City is like a big family. We are united not only in what
makes us different, but in our common values – our common purpose of
supporting one another.
Enjoy your family and friends this season – no matter how loud and
raucous you all might get around the dinner table – and together we
will ring in the New Year with optimism and a renewed sense of
hope.
Wishing you and your family all the best this holiday
season – good health, good cheer, and a renewed commitment to take
care of each other.
Sincerely,
Mayor London Breed
