AFSCME Family,
As we take stock of 2021 — both the joyous times and the challenges — it is impossible not to recognize all that public service workers have done to make our communities safer, healthier and stronger.
Whether it was fighting this pandemic or healing our communities after massive storms, fires and floods, you once again met the challenges head on.
Meanwhile, together through our union, we are winning some of the strongest contracts we have seen in years. And across America, workers are standing up to demand a fair return on their work with a passion we haven’t seen in decades.
We aren’t back to normal yet and some days we might question whether we ever will be. It will take a lot of hard work in the year ahead. But rest assured, we will make it.
So let’s take a moment to celebrate all we’ve done this year and welcome 2022 with open arms. Not only will we get back to normal, but we believe our best days are yet to come.
In solidarity,
Lee Saunders
