As many around the world begin their Christmas celebrations, Peru has just given us all an early gift, by becoming the 59th state party to the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons!



Last night, Peru submitted its instrument of ratification, highlighting the country’s “high commitment to its obligations under international human rights and humanitarian law”, to quote the Andean state’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Our congratulations go out to Peru’s Cancillería, as well as our Peruvian and Latin-American campaigners, particularly from SEHLAC, involved in making this happen.
