Reports of D.C. Public School Third-Graders Instructed to Re-Enact Scenes from the Holocaust
Last week, ADL Washington, D.C. learned of a

horrific incident at Watkins Elementary School , in Washington, D.C. involving a school librarian who allegedly instructed third grade students to reenact elements of the Holocaust.
ADL is working with the school community as well as our partners to respond to this incident. We are supporting parents as they process what transpired and we are working with the school to ensure that they have the appropriate resources and lesson plans to provide to teachers, students and families.

ADL Joins as Co-Counsel in D.C. Lawsuit to Hold January 6th Insurrectionists Accountable for Their Actions
Last week, ADL joined with D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine, States United Democracy Center, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP and Dechert LLP in filing a federal lawsuit to hold two violent groups accountable for the role they played in planning and carrying out the deadly January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The lawsuit specifically claims the groups - including their leaders and members - caused extensive damage to the District of Columbia, particularly to the law enforcement officers who risked their lives to defend the Capitol; the Congress men, women and staffers in the Capitol that day; those living in the District; and our democracy.

Extremists Embark on Weekend of Hate
In a nationwide display of bigotry and hate during the weekend of December 18-19, 2021, individuals associated with the antisemitic

Goyim Defense League (GDL) distributed propaganda in multiple states, while people supporting the
[link removed]
“White Lives Matter” movement distributed propaganda and held roadside flash demonstrations in several states. Some people participated in both efforts.
The distribution of antisemitic flyers and banners were part of a December 18 propaganda “challenge” issued by GDL leader Jon Minadeo who said in a video posted in the group’s Telegram page, “whoever gets on the news gets 100 bucks in the GoyimTV shop.” In the same video, Minadeo encouraged followers to participate, saying, “It’s going to feel good when you do this” and “know that you are helping out your race and you’re helping out mankind.”

Developments in Arab Society in Israel
Join the JCRC of Greater Washington for a two-part series exploring the unprecedented developments in Israel over the past year, from the May 2021 events to an Arab political party playing a critical role in the governing coalition, leading to a historic NIS 30 billion commitment to Arab society in Israel.
This series will shed light on the changes in Israeli society, including new challenges and opportunities and the greater awareness within Israel about the socio-economic gaps among Arab and Israeli citizens. Speakers will share how they apply their particular expertise in law, academia, journalism and politics to advance this change in Israeli society.
Featured Speakers: Gadeer Kamal-Mreeh, Federation and Jewish Agency for Israel, Senior Envoy to Greater Washington and Prof. Mohammed Wattad, Dean of Law, Zefat Academic College. Moderated by Galia Messika-Greenberg, Israel Commission Co-Chair, JCRC of Greater Washington.
