Dear John,

As we close out this year, I’ve been thinking about all that has happened and the opportunities and challenges that await us in 2022. As I was reflecting on my role and how I can continue to show up for those who need it most, we received the devastating news about the passing of bell hooks a scholar, writer, teacher, feminist icon, and personal hero of mine and so many. Although we didn't have her with us long enough, what I know for sure is this: bell taught us well. Her teachings and spirit will forever be part of the foundation upon which we stand as we strive towards a future that is equitable and free for all.

Thank you and rest well, bell hooks. We lift up your light

In solidarity,

Ruth McFarlane, Chief Advancement Officer

Indigenous Women's Reproductive Justice

“It is imperative that this work is built upon a trust of Indigenous communities’ experiences and expertise, and is guided by the leadership of Indigenous women.”   -- Coya White Hat-Artichoker, Ms. Foundation Program Officer

This month, we were proud to announce our latest publication, Tired of Dancing to Their Song: An Assessment of the Indigenous Women's Reproductive Justice Funding Landscape, which examines the needs of Indigenous communities – focused on reproductive justice, and begins to address the historic discrepancies in philanthropic funding for Indigenous women and girls.

The Fight for Gender Justice

Click below to watch the first conversation, Protecting Gender Identity & Expression for America’s Youth, about protecting the individual right to gender expression and freedom from discrimination and stay tuned for the next event!
