Every patient who walks through the doors of a Planned Parenthood health center is unique. Each patient has their own experiences, their own needs, their own reasons for being there.

But no matter the journey that brings a patient to Planned Parenthood, some things will always be true:

Every patient deserves respect, understanding, and the best possible care. They should know all of their options. They should be able to make their own medical decisions without interference.

Planned Parenthood health centers exist to support real people with real lives and real decisions to make about their bodies and future. Take B.G.'s story. She got an abortion when she was 25 and credits it with allowing her to have the life she has now.

When B.G. became pregnant, she knew an abortion was her only option. She simply wasn't in a position to become a mother and definitely did not want to have a child with her then-boyfriend.

After a call to a best friend, who had also had an abortion, B.G. made up her mind.

Her appointment was scheduled for the very next day.
"I do not regret my decision to terminate the pregnancy. I would not have the life I have today, had I been forced to carry that pregnancy to term."

B.G. was able to quickly and safely secure an abortion. She had a supportive friend to rely on. She was able to afford her $425 procedure, make an immediate appointment, and access abortion in her own city.

But we know this is not the case for millions of people in this country.

What if her job didn't allow her to take the time off? What if the nearest abortion provider were in another city or state, and she didn't have the means to travel? What if legal or other financial barriers kept her from getting an abortion?

That's the reality for far too many people -- and as restrictions on abortion access continue to escalate, it's more important than ever to make sure everyone can get the care they need.
