News from Representative Allred

December 23, 2021

Dear Friend,

As more contagious strains of COVID-19 like Delta and Omicron continue to spread in North Texas, it’s more important than ever that you get your vaccine and booster shots if you haven’t already. All Texans aged 5 and over are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine and everyone 16 and older can get a booster dose. Vaccines and boosters are free, even if you don’t have health insurance. More than 55% of Texans are fully vaccinated, which is the best way to protect yourself against COVID-19 and its variants. The best way to maintain protection for yourself and your community is to get a booster shot when you’re eligible.

Take a moment to answer my quick survey question, then keep reading for some important information on vaccines and booster shots:

Have you or do you plan on getting a COVID-19 booster dose?

By participating in the survey you agree to receive periodic communications from Rep. Allred.

COVID-19 Vaccine and Booster FAQs:
  • Who can get the COVID-19 vaccine now?
Everyone aged 5 and over is now eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

  • Who can get a COVID-19 vaccine booster?
Everyone aged 16 and over is now eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine booster dose if it’s been six months since your initial series of Pfizer. Everyone aged 18 or over is eligible if it’s been six months since your initial series of Moderna, or two months since your first dose of J&J.

  • Is the COVID-19 vaccine free?
Yes. As part of the American Rescue Plan that I helped pass earlier this year, the COVID-19 vaccine is available free of cost to all individuals, even if you don’t have health insurance.

  • Where can I get the COVID-19 vaccine?
Visit vaccines.gov to find local vaccination sites and providers, including for boosters.

In addition, President Biden announced plans earlier this week to ramp up testing and increase the availability of free at-home Covid-19 tests, so that we can better stop the spread.

Also, as a reminder, the open enrollment period for the health care marketplace is now through January 15, 2022, for coverage starting February 1, 2022. If you don’t currently have health insurance, or simply want to change plans to save money, visit HealthCare.gov to select a plan that works for you and your family. It is important to get quality health insurance and access to a doctor during this ongoing critical time.

My office is here to connect you with COVID-19 vaccine and health care resources. If you have any questions, please give us a call at (972) 972-7949.

Sincerely,
