John,

In June, Reproaction launched our campaign demanding Dr. Randall Williams resign as director of Missouri’s Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS). Williams has weaponized DHSS to humiliate and assault people seeking abortions in Missouri, thus he is unfit to direct a state agency people rely on to manage systems without bias or a political agenda.

We have been relentless in our demand because we knew Williams is a threat to the liberty, privacy, and bodily autonomy of people seeking abortion care in Missouri.

We were right.

Last week, Dr. Randall Williams testified at a state hearing that he kept a spreadsheet to track the menstrual periods of women who visited Planned Parenthood. [2]

Dr. Randall Williams is a disgrace. Take action now to demand Williams resign immediately!

Under Dr. Williams' direction, Missouri’s DHSS has become an instrument of abuse wielded in an attempt to force doctors to violate medical ethics so the state can humiliate and assault women seeking abortions. According to Dr. Colleen McNicholas, chief medical officer at Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri, more than 100 patients endured medically unnecessary invasive pelvic exams when the provider reluctantly complied with the DHSS rule in May. On June 22, Dr. Williams yielded to public outrage and told reporters that DHSS would issue an emergency rule allowing pelvic exams closer to the time of the abortion if the clinic believes that it is best for the patient. [1]

DHSS has not removed the mandate for medically unnecessary invasive pelvic exams prior to medication abortion, and there are no clinics providing medication abortion care in Missouri.

And now Williams has testified at a state hearing that he has been tracking Planned Parenthood patients’ menstrual periods. Every person receiving services at agencies overseen by DHSS must now wonder what else Dr. Williams is tracking and why.

Reproaction demands the immediate resignation of Dr. Randall W. Williams from Missouri's Department of Health and Senior Services.
