This is Al Letson, the host of Reveal – public radio's first one-hour radio show and podcast dedicated to investigative reporting. Each week, we take listeners across the country and the world, exposing wrongs and holding the powerful accountable.

Named one of the top episodes of 2021 on Spotify ([link removed]) , this seven-part investigation looks into the case of Billey Joe Johnson, a Black teenager who died during an early-morning traffic stop by a White police officer in Mississippi. As we listened to police interview tape, reviewed crime scene photos, interviewed grieving but relentless family members and looked at what investigators did and didn’t do, we saw some glaring themes: indignity. Apathy. A lack of respect.
Our show can be heavy. But we tell the stories that need to be told. Stories that change laws and lives. That’s the power of public radio.
