Despite some unprecedented challenges this year, CPJ made important gains in the fight for press freedom—we helped win the release of more than 100 imprisoned journalists, we contributed to securing convictions in the murders of ten journalists, and we provided crucial financial and non-financial assistance to more than 400 journalists all over the world.
