As 2021 ends, we want to say thank you! 

Together, we’ve done a lot to defend our democracy this year. We: 

*Made over 200,000 calls to Congress
*Sent over 175,000 emails to legislators
*Submitted 25,000 letters to the editor

And the pressure has worked. We helped secure a number of victories in the House of Representatives this year. Bills like the For the People Act, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, the Protecting Our Democracy Act, and a historic passage of a bill that would make D.C. the 51st state all passed. 

All of these bills could have been sent to President Biden’s desk by now. Instead, they are idling in the Senate, blocked by the Jim Crow filibuster. That’s why our members have made over 90,000 calls to the Senate this year telling them to get rid of the filibuster to protect our democracy.

We also successfully restored the right to vote to tens of thousands of formerly incarcerated Americans in New York and Connecticut this year, thanks to the thousands of Stand Up America members in those states who contacted their lawmakers. 

We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, but we’re not slowing down! As we go into the new year, we’re closer than ever to securing the national voting standards and protections our country so dearly needs.
