October, 2019, Florida County Republican Registrations Report and Elections Analysis
©Stephen R. Meyer, Vero Beach, Florida, November, 2019
Issued 11/04/19
There are roughly 51 weeks from the end of October to the early voting period of
the 2020 election. In October, Republican registrations relative to Democrat registrations
in Florida worsened by 1,888 registrations. Republican registrations relative to
Democrat registrations peaked in the early summer of 2018 and we have not reached
these levels since (see attached chart).

Congratulations to Lafayette County for joining the ranks of Counties who have a
majority of Republican registrations! It appears Taylor and DeSoto Counties will
flip prior to the 2020 election, and Hendry County could flip by the time of the
2020 election. Republicans are gaining market share in every low-population Florida
County. It is quite remarkable!
The Republican success in the low-population counties is highlighted by a new metric
being used to analyze registration trends. The new metric is the gain in Republican
registrations relative to Democrat registrations per 10,000 county residents. The
data presented is from the time period from the 2018 book closing to the end of
October, 2019 (see Table 2 in the attachment).
The variation in this new metric is an opportunity to determine the critical factors
affecting this metric and to capitalize on this newly gained knowledge. The metric
may demonstrate the counties with the best practices.
Best,
Steve Meyer, Indian River County REC Member
