Hello John,
As the year comes to an end, I have a final story to share with you about a man we have been representing who is fighting against Trader Joe’s.

Gregg Crawford was a Trader Joe’s store manager who had a successful 26-year career there and was granted a religious exemption/accommodation from the company’s vaccination mandate.

Each year, store managers have a meeting to set the direction for the next year. Gregg was informed that only “vaccinated” people could attend the meeting and therefore he was prohibited from attending. He was also told that attendance was a “job expectation”, and his failure to meet this job expectation would be reflected on his performance review.

A letter was written to the company requesting an accommodation due to his sincerely held religious belief, which they had previously acknowledged. Several methods of accommodation were suggested in the letter, including attendance by zoom call and having Gregg tested prior to the meeting.

After receiving a letter from PJI, the company abruptly fired the employee for, “going outside the company, taking an adversarial position, and working against the interests of the company.”

Now, we are representing Mr. Crawford for being wrongfully terminated because of his religious beliefs.

Cases like this are happening all around the country, and when we partner together to stand for Mr. Crawford, we partner together to stand for all Americans facing similar challenges and discrimination. As you read this, PJI is in the process of defending literally thousands of police officers, firemen, teachers, nurses, and doctors who are in the process of being fired because of their deep convictions and faith.

Will you consider standing with us at PJI to ensure people like Mr. Crawford continue to receive professional legal counsel, completely free-of-charge?

I am convinced that cases like these will act as milestones for the US legal system to protect religious freedom for America’s employees for generations to come.
