Dear Friend,
The 1990s brought more expansion and growth for us! We opened offices both the West San Gabriel and San Fernando Valleys and increased our staff and programming capacity. Our Deaf and Disabled program and our youth violence prevention program experienced growth. This included production of the groundbreaking In Touch With Teens ([link removed]) teen dating violence and healthy relationship curriculum, which still drives our work today. We also started our masters level internship and training program, training social work interns as future trauma therapists. And, This is not An Invitation to Rape Me, a radical sexual assault campaign was released, inspiring us and paving the way for Denim Day. In 1999, motivated by an Italian court overturning a rape conviction reasoning the victim must have helped her attacker remove her tight jeans, I founded Denim Day ([link removed]) in LA. Denim Day started as a grassroots community
driven sexual violence prevention education campaign, encouraging individuals to wear jeans in protest and spread the message: There is No Excuse And Never An Invitation to Rape.

POV has accomplished so much in the last five decades ([link removed]) . As much as there has been progress, there is still so much left to do… and we are not done. The question for all of us as a society is:
** where do we go from here?
------------------------------------------------------------
Where does POV go after 50 years? We can’t go anywhere without you. Your support will set the agenda for the next decades to come: an agenda of healing, violence prevention, social transformation, family resiliency, community building --- and more peace over violence.

We know survivors’ greatest need during times of crisis is direct cash assistance. Fifteen percent of all money raised during this year-end campaign will go to our Survivors Direct Assistance Fund, distributed to survivors in the Los Angeles area.
