Politics has been a rich man’s game for too long. Sunrise’s Principle 6 Program works to change that.

Hi John, it's Ondrew, an organizer with Sunrise DeKalb.

I wanted to take a moment to talk to you about the Principle 6 program — Sunrise’s financial support program to support our volunteer leaders from poor & working class backgrounds.

As a beneficiary of the Principle 6 program, I can say that Sunrise DeKalb would not exist as it does today without it. Without the financial support, I would not have been able to do what it takes to lead the hub. We have pressured the local government to build solar farms, improved police oversight, participated in protests, and coordinated mutual aid efforts. Principle 6 was the seed for all of this change in DeKalb, as it supported myself and several other extremely valuable members.

John, we need to make sure that everyone has a seat at the table, including Sunrisers from poor and working-class backgrounds. Can you donate $10 today to support the Principle 6 program, so Sunrise can continue to provide financial support to community organizers?

Sunrise Movement is best when it champions material politics for the benefit of all. When we advocate for a Green New Deal and clean water, air, and above all a healthy, sustainable environment, we advocate for a material political outcome.

An important component of a sustainable environment that is often neglected is the fiscal means to have a safe environment in the form of quality housing and food. The Principle 6 program directly addresses these concerns at a time when these resources are especially not easy to come by.

By supporting the Principle 6 program, you’re activating the talents of young organizers across the country. So, John, if you can, can you donate to support the Principle 6 program and other crucial offerings from Sunrise?

It is through the support of everyday people like you that we can enact real, grassroots change and build a future we can be proud of. On behalf of myself and the many other beneficiaries, we cannot thank you enough.

In solidarity and love,

Ondrew, Sunrise
