Dear Ward 8 Residents:
On Friday, December 17th, I received a positive test result for COVID-19. At this time, I am following the necessary protocols to keep my family and the community safe. Please keep me in your prayers at this time.
I am very concerned about the rising number of COVID-19 outbreaks, especially within the school system. The District’s reported data for December 21st includes, 1,524 new positive COVID-19 cases, bringing the District’s overall positive cases to 77,661.
With the rise in holiday gatherings, I urge residents to do their part to slow down the rate of infection. Here are some updates regarding testing and covid-related mandates:
- Self-Testing Kits are available at the pick-up and drop-off sites indicated in the graph below. Residents can continue to access free PCR COVID-19 tests at locations across the District, including at eight firehouse sites.
- Rapid Test Kits are available to residents at eight locations across the city. The Rapid Antigen COVID-19 testing kits will be available at eight District libraries, six days a week. Residents can get two free rapid tests per day.
- The indoor mask mandate has been reinstated until January 31, 2022 at 6:00am.
- All employees, contractors, interns, and grantees of DC Government must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and must have a booster.

Councilmember Trayon White, Sr.
