As I travel the state, I meet with so many North Carolinians who can’t afford medication they need. Who struggle to balance jobs and caring for their families. Who are relying on tax cuts like the Child Tax Credit to pay for school supplies, medical care and more.
By not passing legislation like Build Back Better, politicians in Washington are failing families in North Carolina.
One thing is for sure: A 50 seat majority is not enough. This race in North Carolina is our opportunity to change that — and change what is possible.
When I became Chief Justice of the NC Supreme Court, I learned we didn’t have a paid family leave policy.
It was unacceptable, so I created a family leave policy for more than 6,000 employees in our court system. It made a difference for a lot of families.
And it’s with that experience in mind that I say: we must pass paid family and medical leave.
Our best path forward right now is to fight as hard as we can to expand our majority. I promise to always be a vote and voice for justice and for the people in the Senate, but first, we need your help to flip this seat.
