For this month’s edition of The Whiteboard, we’re taking a look at the state of our movement.  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

The Whiteboard at Truth to Power

John,

Welcome back to The Whiteboard, our monthly newsletter where we show you what Truth to Power endorsed candidates have been up to. This issue, we’re rewinding a bit and looking back at all the amazing work our endorsed candidates have worked on these past few months.

First up, Rep. Mondaire Jones' response to Joe Manchin’s refusal to vote for the Build Back Better Act. Manchin’s decision to squash landmark legislation which would drive economic growth, drastically lower the cost of prescription drugs, make childcare more affordable, and invest in clean energy, is exactly why we need more progressive champions in Congress. Katie Porter needs allies who will fight for families, not corporate special interests. If you’re with us, consider chipping in to help more Katie Porter-endorsed candidates get elected.

Joe Manchin's Christmas gift to the American people?

Higher household costs, expensive medications, and climate catastrophe.

Coal would have been a lot easier.

Next: Leaning into his past as an educator, Rep. Jamaal Bowman introduced legislation to support schools teaching the history of African-Americans. This legislation would invest $10 million over 5 years in the National Museum of African American History and Culture to support African American history education programs available for students, parents, and educators.

In today’s current education system our history is being challenged and this ignorance to the truth has left many students subject to dishonest education.

That is why today I introduced the African American History Act to #tellthetruth.

Finally, Rep. Porter continued to uplift the stories of millions of women who had to leave the workforce due to COVID-19. Rep. Porter has been leading the fight to get women back in the workforce. Without them, our whole economy is weakened.

We won't have a strong economy without women in it. COVID-19 has forced millions of women to scale back their careers, which is a direct threat to our long-term economic recovery. The longer we wait to take action, the more we will set our workforce back.

If you’d like to support the next bench of Truth to Power candidates—who will work just as hard to fight for progressive legislation for working people and families—please consider making a donation today.

Please stay safe and healthy this holiday season, and remember, all of this great work was accomplished thanks to the support from folks like you!

In gratitude,

The Whiteboard at Truth to Power
