Dear John,

It’s hard to believe that 2021 is already coming to a close. We want to thank you and all of our volunteers for the incredible work we were able to accomplish this year!

You helped us accomplish big victories this year:

In the legislative session, thanks in no small part to our hundreds of volunteers across the state, we helped pass monumental climate policy. In March, over 215 folks attended our first-ever virtual lobby day to help advocate for our priority bills. Then in June, we had 24 volunteers join us to call over 900 Oregonians in key districts to help urge state legislators to vote yes for the 100% Clean Energy for All bill. Following the lead of Oregon’s frontline communities and environmental justice movement, we helped pass the Oregon Clean Energy Opportunity (OCEO)-- our biggest win of the session. This trio of bills helps to ensure that energy will remain affordable to low income families; that funding will be made available to families to upgrade their homes to make them safer, healthier, and more energy efficient; and put our state on a path to 100% clean energy by 2040.

2021 also held victories for OLCV at the ballot box. We made endorsements in the Tualatin Hills Park and Rec District, Bend Park and Rec District, and Beaverton City Council races, and OLCV-endorsed candidates won in every race. OLCV volunteers showed up week after week to support our candidates by calling voters and delivering campaign literature right to voters’ doorsteps, and it paid off! We also got a couple letters to the editor published in local papers in support of our candidates.

For the first time in quite a while, we engaged heavily on some national environmental legislation: the Build Back Better Act (BBBA). From the start, our goal has been to ensure the strongest environmental policies possible to put the US on a path to clean energy, provide family-wage union jobs right here in America, and secure investments in communities of color and other underserved communities. The fight is not over, and we’ll continue to need your support to see these investments over the finish line!

A huge thank you to our volunteer leadership committees and the Metro Climate Action Team for all your work throughout the year!

These are just the highlights of what OLCV was able to accomplish this year, and none of it would have been possible without our dedicated, eager, and engaged volunteers like you. Please accept this short video as a token of our great appreciation for you and your time.
