Last night, the Trump Administration announced that they are officially withdrawing the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement, which was signed by nearly 200 countries in 2015.
This is outrageous. We should be passing legislation like the Green New Deal and centering solutions to the climate crisis around communities that are most impacted — not withdrawing from an international agreement aimed at safeguarding our planet for future generations.
Ayanna is a co-sponsor of the Green New Deal, which would transform our economy and society to tackle the climate crisis head on. Making systemic change to address our changing climate isn’t just an environmental issue — it’s tied to racial justice, economic justice, and healthcare justice.
Thank you for being a part of our movement for progress. We will continue to fight back against this Administration’s short-sighted policies and work together toward justice and a sustainable planet for all.
