Friend - Have you ever been given advice you knew it wouldn’t feel right for you to take?

Maybe you’re going to just get your hair trimmed a couple inches, but the stylist recommends you dye your hair blue and get a mohawk instead. Sure, they can make a suggestion, but ultimately it’s up to you to make the final decision about your haircut.

Well, the Senate is in a similar position right now after getting some not so great advice from the parliamentarian, who is nothing more than an unelected advisor, about whether immigration can be included in the Build Back Better Package. So, I recorded a video to remind them that no matter the advice they get from the parliamentarian, they can simply say “thanks, but no thanks!” and deliver citizenship in the Build Back Better bill.

TBH, it’s pretty embarrassing for Senate Democrats to hide behind the parliamentarian and her advice when they’re the ones voters elected to serve and protect our communities. Democrats in the Senate hold the majority which is all the power they need to pass citizenship for millions and positively impact the lives of so many of our undocumented community members.

It seems like Senate Leadership might need some words of encouragement to deliver citizenship in Build Back Better. Can you give them a quick call to remind them they have the power to say “thanks, but NO THANKS!” to the parliamentarian’s advice?
