Hi Friend,
Fifty years ago today, the founders of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) launched a “new type of medicine”—one that promised to put people over profits.
A lot has changed since those first 300 volunteers joined forces in December 1971. MSF has grown over the decades into a global network of 45,000 staff members of 160 nationalities working in more than 70 countries. But our core mission has never changed: providing medical aid in any context, based solely on our independent assessment of people’s needs.
This incredible community has kept us going for five decades, allowing us to remain independent while reaching people in more than 70 countries, helping millions of people around the world. None of this work would have been possible without a legacy of generous donors.
This email was sent from the U.S. section of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and exclusion from health care.
