Friend,

Growing up, I watched my parents do everything possible to support my five siblings and me. They each worked 2 or 3 jobs at a time, doing whatever they could to keep our family afloat.

Through my parents, I saw firsthand what hard work looked like. It’s why I started working for the Neighborhood Youth Corps when I was 14, which helped underprivileged children find employment. I also worked at the UNC hospitals, and as a church secretary so I could afford to go to college and obtain the education and opportunities that my parents could not.

Thanks to the sacrifice of my parents and the work ethic they instilled in me, I was empowered to serve my community and work to make a considerable difference in public schools, policing, and state laws.

I want to keep working hard in Congress as NC-06’s next representative because we must continue making progress for the people.

I’ve done volunteer work since I was a little girl. From being engaged in the Head Start Program to volunteering in my sons’ schools, I wanted to see my communities constantly strive for progress.
