Hi John,
In another tough year, the constant efforts of our staff and activists to support young people’s right to bodily autonomy and a world of equity and justice were nothing short of inspiring. As always, young people are at the forefront of activism, education, and progress.
Before you sign off for the holidays, please know a donation to Advocates for Youth will help support youth activists with training, seed grants, and resources in 2022.
Young people aren’t backing down. They’re galvanized by controversy and committed to protecting reproductive and sexual health and rights for all young people.
I’m inspired by these young people, and I want to share just a few of their own thoughts on activism in 2021:
- “I do this work for my younger self, my future children, and for my ancestors & foremothers. I do this work for those who share my stories, pain, and trauma. Most importantly I do this work because our health and wellbeing is political; it is a radical act of healing and self love to center safety, sovereignty, and joy in our bodies. We will build our liberated world by fully embodying revolution and healing.”
- Sarah, Young Women of Color Leadership Council
- “As a young person in today’s society, it’s sometimes challenging to talk to adults, especially parents, about sex education. During my childhood, I never received sex education in my household. I want to help educate those who don't have the privilege of getting to understand their bodies the way they should.”
- Jasmin, AMAZE Youth Ambassador
- “I grew up in Texas, and quickly learned that access to comprehensive sex education, birth control, and abortion isn't guaranteed for young people. It's important for me to not only fight for access, but to support other young people in finding their passions, strength, and political homes within this incredible movement.”
- Deana, Youth Abortion Support Collective
- “I hope my story empowers others to speak up and speak out about the future of reproductive rights and continue to fight for body autonomy. I will never be afraid or be ashamed again and I refuse to let anyone ever make me feel that way again.”
- Karli, Engaging Communities around HIV Organizing
With their dedication and your financial support, we can keep the pressure on policy makers in 2022 and ensure that young people have the resources and support they need to live healthy lives and thrive.
I’m proud to work alongside these young people. Support us with a donation of $50 today.
Thank you for your support,
