When we started this campaign back in March, my top priority was to build a movement rooted in love, empathy, and doing right by our neighbors.

This came from my experience as an organizer fighting for marriage equality here in rural North Carolina and throughout the South and my experience on two county commission campaigns. In each, we won – even when no one said we had a chance, because we came to the work with humility and tenacity.

What I learned was that if you organize everywhere, if you put the time into meeting people where they are and having meaningful conversations with them, it will make all the difference.

And that is why I am excited to share that both me, and our amazing team of staff and volunteers, have knocked doors and spoken to voters in every county in Western North Carolina since July. And, with your help, we are fired up to start the new year by getting out there to do it again.
