We have partnered with FEE to host a debate on capitalism. Today is ELECTION Day! The holiday season and community service. And dates to remember.
** Voting: A Scared Duty and Privilege
------------------------------------------------------------
This month at the Madison Liberty Institute ([link removed]) , the Spark Freedom project ([link removed]) had a strong turn out to their "Meet the Candidates Activity" (#Spark) and have an exciting activity (#debate) up our sleeves that will bring out some of our Nations's top economists to talk about capitalism. Our BrushFires ([link removed]) project has some awesome opportunities for members of the community to get involved (#Brush) . We are very excited for the holiday s (#Resource) eason (#Resource) and for our involvement with Toys for Tots. (#Toys) Lastly, today is a big day! It is ELECTION DAY... the day where the citizens of Idaho head to the polls and vote for who they want for their local representatives.
Let us remember that it is our sacred duty, as well as the privilege for each of us to cast our votes.
Voting is a fundamental right that has been secured to us by our inspired Constitution and is an opportunity for us, as citizens, to have a voice in what happens in our country, state, and local communities. Although sometimes it may not feel like our vote matters. Your vote does matter. It can make all the difference in decisions made in the world around you. The Founding Fathers realized this. They recognized that the voice of an individual was so vital and important, that it needed to be protected. As a result, they created a constitutional republic to protect the voice of the individual in the democratic process. Ensuring that America would have a government "of the people, by the people."
As citizens in Idaho, we encourage you to exercise this fundamental right and share your voice. Vote for honest, just, individuals who will represent you in your local communities.
For more information about voting in your area, contact your local county clerk's office ([link removed]) to find out who will be appearing on your ballot. Today, the polls are open from 8 AM to 8 PM with some counties even opened at 7 AM.
Can Idaho count you?

"Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual--or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country. "

** Spark Freedom Debate: Is Capitalism Sustainable?
------------------------------------------------------------
In order to continue our outreach efforts to more students and the community, the Madison Liberty Institute ([link removed]) is partnering with the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) ([link removed]) to host our third student-led debate at Rexburg’s Romance Theater. Organized by our Spark Freedom’s ([link removed]) Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) Rexburg chapter, in coordination with the Rexburg Area Progressive Student Society, the debate will explore the sustainability of capitalism as well as address public healthcare and minimum wage.
The event is open to the public and will take place on Friday, November 15, 2019, at the Romance Theater, 2 E. Main Street, Rexburg, Idaho at 7 PM. Additionally, the debate will be live-streamed via our Facebook page ([link removed]) . Debate panelists include area professors, students, and two special guests - Daniel Mitchell ([link removed]) and Jeff Hamond ([link removed]) .
Admission is by donation – you have three options:
- A new, unwrapped toy, which will be donated to the local Toys for Tots program;
- Non-perishable food item(s), which will be donated to the local food bank; or,
- Cash donation to be shared with the various student groups involved in the debate.

** Spark Freedom: Meet the Candidates
------------------------------------------------------------
In an effort to bring together area college students, community members, and local government, our SparkFreedom ([link removed]) project hosted a "Meet the Rexburg Candidates" meet and greet on 10.23.19. All candidates running for Rexburg Mayor and City Council participated and answered questions. It was rewarding to see so many members of the community and local students support the event.
** Community Service: Toys for Tots
------------------------------------------------------------
We are excited to announce that we are participating in Toys for Tots this holiday season! We are working to distribute donation boxes around Rexburg, including one at our Spark Freedom building ([link removed]) located by the post office. We will also be accepting donations at our Spark Freedom Debate (#debate) at the Romance Theater in Rexburg on November 15th as admission.
We encourage you to donate a new, unwrapped toy to the cause!
** BrushFires Update: Committees of Correspondance
