There’s a dizzying amount of news coming out of Washington—and across the country—right now. I know it can be easy to feel anxious, overwhelmed or confused. So I wanted to drop a line to check in.
And as we reflect on the last year in Washington, let’s remember that we have a lot to be proud of.
*
We
passed
the
American
Rescue
Plan
,
sending
stimulus
checks
to
American
families,
cutting
child
poverty
in
half
,
extending
unemployment
insurance,
offering
relief
for
renters
and
homeowners,
and
more.

*
We
passed
a
historic,
bipartisan
infrastructure
package
that
doesn’t
just
repair
our
nation’s
crumbling
infrastructure,
but
creates
good
union
jobs,
addresses
climate
change,
and
advances
equity.

*
We
have
confirmed
federal
judges
at
a
record
pace
,
building
a
diverse,
deeply
experienced
judicial
bench.

*
America’s
economy
improved
more
in
the
first
12
months

of
President
Biden’s
history
than
any
president
in
the
past
50
years.

*
More
than
200
million
Americans
are
fully
vaccinated
,
and
all
Americans
aged
5
and
older
are
eligible
to
receive
the
vaccine
at
no
cost.

Thank you for your steadfast support, and for staying active and engaged. None of this would be possible without you.
Ask anyone and they will tell you: I’m an optimist.
So as we look ahead to 2022, I remain hopeful. The road ahead may be daunting, but we’ve never shied away from a tough fight. And we won’t start now.
Wishing you a safe and happy holiday season,
Kirsten
P.S. One last reminder: Make sure to take care of yourself, whatever that means for you. Read a book. Watch a corny Christmas movie. Get outside and stretch your legs. Take a break from Twitter. Check in with loved ones.
