Desiring the Holy Eucharist:
The Key in the Battle Against a Conspiracy of
Interruptions
Dear Friend,
We all know that the raging
pandemic and economic downturn led to the closing of our churches and
the spiritual
starving of the lay faithful for the Blessed
Sacrament. Among its many ripple effects were the deprivation of the
grace of other sacraments as well, such as Reconciliation, Anointing,
and more…
Without being able to draw strength
from the Lord, many have gotten caught up in distracting
interruptions.
In light of what I call the ongoing
“conspiracy of interruptions” from the pandemic scare all around us,
we must not lose sight of the most important things. For over a year
and a half we’ve all been embroiled in terrible spiritual and societal
battles. With these exacerbating concerns, millions have run the risk
of losing their belief in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the
Most Holy Eucharist.
You
can serve as a source of hope and light as well as a reminder that
families are not alone in their darkest moments. Help us spread hope

My friends, millions of souls are
at stake! Particularly during this tumultuous time, we need to draw
strength from the Lord and embrace the Eucharist as the ultimate
source of our spiritual strength and grace.
In his 2012 book, Divine Love Made Flesh: The Holy Eucharist
as the Sacrament of Charity, His Eminence Raymond Cardinal Burke stressed the importance of
desiring in our lives first and foremost, the Holy Eucharist. He notes
that for the person of faith, all other goods in life are seen always
in relationship to the Holy Eucharist.
All Hell quivers and quakes at the
soul that cries out with agonizing yearnings for Christ in the
Eucharist: “The great good in our life and the measure of the depth of
our faith is naturally the strength of our desire to receive Holy
Communion,” said Cardinal Burke.
As we continue to direct our hearts
and minds to Christ in these final days of Advent, let us remember
there is no fuller communion with God than when we receive the Body
and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ in Holy Communion. Let us
reaffirm and strengthen our conviction that the Holy Eucharist is the
very Source of our life in the Church and its highest
expression.
As we draw close to the coming of
Christ at Christmas, let us increase the deepest desire of our hearts
for the Eucharist!
