We can’t take our democratic system for granted, Friend.
Friend,
Throughout 2021, Republican officials across the country have launched a horrifying, full-scale assault on the right to vote.
Many of these attacks have come from elected officials in state capitols. Republican AGs have consistently aided these legislators in undermining the legitimacy of our electoral system, and these attacks are only going to get worse.
Dem AGs have been fighting, tooth and nail, for the right to vote on every front by:
Fighting in the courts against voter suppression laws
Expanding polling locations in local elections
Working with state legislatures to expand voting access
Preventing unnecessary purging of voter rolls
Meanwhile, Republican AGs have argued that H.R. 1, the voting rights legislation passed by the House early this year, is “unconstitutional.” This is despite the fact that online voter registration, mail-in voting, expanded early voting, and other aspects of the legislation have been in place in other states for years.
The contrast couldn’t be more clear. Republican AGs are only interested in getting elected. Meanwhile, Dem AGs work every single day to protect us and our democracy.
