surprised and delighted to see a last-minute change that added back some important parts of our current district.

John,

I wanted to provide an update on our final Congressional maps, which were just approved unanimously by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission. I’d like to thank the Commission for their hard work over these past several months.

On Sunday night, we were surprised and delighted to see a last-minute change that added back some important parts of our current district -- Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar, and all of Carlsbad.

We are thrilled that the new CA-49 (yes, we’re still numbered CA-49) closely mirrors our current district, with the core of our North County San Diego and South Orange County communities intact.

That said, the new CA-49 does have some important changes. For one, we are excited to be adding the City of Laguna Niguel. We’ll need significant resources to communicate with tens of thousands of new voters there. As always, we’ll do it with the power of grassroots organizing.

We’re also very sorry to lose the campus of UC San Diego and the communities of Rancho Santa Fe and Fairbanks Ranch. I’m very grateful to the UCSD students and residents of those communities who have offered to continue to assist our campaign, regardless of district boundaries.

As our supporters and volunteers, you remain the backbone of this campaign. I’m incredibly proud of our team, and make no mistake: we’re expecting our toughest fight yet.

With our new district lines set, we need all hands on deck to begin organizing in new communities and spreading the word about our accomplishments. Help fund these efforts by chipping in a contribution of $3 today.

Onward to victory next year!

Sincerely,

Mike
