Friend,
Former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos offered “thoughts and prayers” for the
families of the people who died in the Edwardsville warehouse last
week.(1)
But his company is trying to shirk responsibility for keeping workers in
the warehouse and doing deliveries during one of the worst storms in
Illinois’ history.(2)
A group of Amazon shareholders are pushing for an audit of the company’s
warehouse practices, and we need to make sure they aren’t ignored. Will
you donate to our campaign to hold Amazon accountable for worker safety?
[ [link removed] ]Yes, I'll chip in $5 to help ensure worker safety in
Amazon warehouses.
Six workers lost their lives in the Edwardsville warehouse because Amazon
wouldn't let them go home in the face of an EF-3 tornado.
Amazon drivers in the area asked to return to safety and were told they’d
be fired.(3) Warehouse workers in other facilities have reported that they
have not had any emergency training.(4)
In Edwardsville’s other warehouse, the tornado “shelter-in-place” area is
filled with treadmills and refrigerators that could come down on them in a
storm.(5)
Amazon’s warehouses are dangerous -- fatally so -- and all Bezos can offer
are “thoughts and prayers”?!
Courage California has helped to change how warehouse workers are treated
in California, and now we’re helping to sound a national alarm to hold
Amazon accountable for how its workers’ lives are endangered. We’ve helped
support the workers impacted by the Edwardsville warehouse collapse. Now
we need to take this opportunity, while the spotlight is firmly on the
mega retailer, to make sure that Amazon protects its workers, which is why
we’re ramping up our campaign to get Congress to rein Amazon in.

workers?
