Proud of our first year's accomplishments

Dear Friend,

As the end of our first full year as an organization approaches, we are reaching out to our strongest supporters. We might be a new organization, and we might be small, but we are fierce. With decades of experience on our staff and board, we hit the ground running and were instrumental in some major wins against the fossil fuel industry.

Going into the new year, we're gearing up for more success in the fight for climate justice. Your contribution will help us win more tangible victories, like these:

Byhalia Connection Pipeline Defeated

We were Memphis Community Against Pollution's (MCAP) first partner in their fight against a proposed crude oil pipeline that would have been built through the historically-black communities of Southwest Memphis. The pipeline project was abandoned in July.

Zenith Oil Terminal Expansion Denied

Because of broad public opposition we helped to organize against the Zenith oil terminal in Northwest Portland, Portland City Council denied it a crucial permit needed for expansion in August.

Jordan Cove LNG Pipeline Project Dead

We provided communications support to a group of rural landowners fighting the fracked gas pipeline project in Southwestern Oregon. After several recent legal blows against it, the company Pembina asked to cancel its permit for the project earlier this month.

Oregon's First Electrification Policy

With communications and organizing support from Breach, the Fossil Free Eugene campaign successfully urged Eugene City Council to support policies to transition the city's buildings to 100% clean energy.

Building Power With Labor

Breach's staff union, Breach United, is entering collective bargaining negotiations with our Board of Directors to secure its first union contract. Our staff offer support and are developing resource materials for workers at other nonprofits looking to get organized. We look forward to more collaboration with the labor movement in 2022.

Growing Our Team

Since the beginning of this year, our staff has grown from one full-time and one part-time employee to four full-time and three part-time employees. We are proud of the talent we are able to provide in support of grassroots movements for climate justice.

As a new and small organization, individual contributions go a long way in supporting what we do. Please consider making a donation today to help us advance justice with those on the front lines of the climate crisis.

If you don't already, follow along with us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

We are grateful to be fighting for justice in community and solidarity with you.

Thank you,

Jay Monteverde
