Friend,

Today marks the official first day of winter, meaning the coldest days of the year are just around the corner. And after the devastation that Texans faced this February, I’m worried that another winter storm could be on the horizon. The Farmers' Almanac, which predicted this year’s storm, says Texans should be preparing for another cold spell in January 2022. And Friend, our grid isn’t ready.

This year, Texans witnessed firsthand just how catastrophic a few really cold days can be when our energy grid isn’t prepared. And despite our calls for action, Greg Abbott and Texas Republicans still have not taken adequate measures to ensure Texas families are ready for the winter ahead.

I don’t know about you Friend, but the last thing I want to be worrying about as I celebrate the holidays with my family is the grid failing again. The only way to make sure that we can all feel safe in our homes come next winter is for Democrats to be the ones calling the shots. So I’m asking: will you contribute $7 to elect leaders that will put the safety of Texans first?

Friend, I wish we could count on Republican lawmakers to protect us from another winter storm -- but we can’t. So I encourage everyone to get prepared just in case we face another blackout this winter. Then next November, with your help, we’ll show Texas Republicans that we won’t tolerate their failed leadership any longer.

In service and hope,
