John — We’ve been keeping you posted on the dire consequences since gray wolves were removed from the endangered species list.
SEEC members are sounding the alarm to reinstate protections for gray wolves, and for good reason. Gray wolves currently only occupy 20% of their historic range, and this year we’ve seen gray wolves overhunted across several states. In Wisconsin alone, gray wolves were overhunted by more than 80% of the allotted threshold in the middle of breeding season — it’s clear that their federal protection was removed far too soon.
Now, nine Republican House members are backing a bill that declares the Endangered Species Act “does not apply to the gray wolf,” in order to make their lack-of-protection status permanent.
That’s why SEEC Member Rep. Don Beyer has led the call along with 78 other lawmakers urging Interior Secretary Deb Haaland in a letter to temporarily restore protections for the gray wolf. This 240-day emergency relisting would stop more mass killings across the West.
We’ve had enough of short-sighted decisions when it comes to the conservation and protection of endangered wildlife.
SEEC members in Congress are working to conserve our public lands and protect endangered species. Will you join their fight to protect endangered animals like the gray wolves by pitching in a donation today?

Gray wolves are a vital part of the ecosystem in the northern Rocky Mountains. They keep grazing animals in check, which helps protect naturally growing trees and plants. But without protection, they could disappear.
This is a pivotal moment in the fight against climate change. Temperatures are rising, extreme weather events are becoming more common, and ecosystems are being destroyed. We are quickly reaching a turning point where we can’t go back.
SEEC members in Congress know how important it is to protect endangered species and maintain the vibrancy of our ecosystems. Will you stand with them by making a donation today?
