Three. This number has been at the top of my head ever since we officially announced that Cori is running for re-election.
That’s because in 2020 — after so many folks told us there was no chance that we could change the status quo — Cori pulled off a historic victory by only 3 points.
This victory was made possible by supporters like you, John, who gave us the people-power we needed to defeat a 20 year-incumbent. Together, we demanded the change our communities deserve and sent the first activist from the movement in defense of Black lives to Congress.
We need this kind of people-power again, more than ever, as we prepare for a heated election year. The GOP and far-right groups have made it clear that they’re terrified of Cori’s bold, progressive agenda and they’re prepared to dump record amounts of money to attack Cori during the midterm elections.
That’s why today I’m asking for a special favor: Will you consider making a monthly, recurring donation to our campaign? Even giving just $3 every month makes a huge difference so that we have the sustained support we need to keep Cori in Congress.
John, I want to be honest with you. We have our work cut out for us.
There are a number of challenges we face from now until Election Day that we need to prepare for.
From the moment Cori stepped foot in Congress, the far-right has made attacking Cori a core plank in their agenda. White supremacists have made countless violent threats on Cori’s life. The GOP will do everything in its power to keep Cori from being re-elected because they're threatened by the progressive, people-first movement she’s leading.
And it’s not just the GOP getting involved. Their friends on Wall Street are prepared to spend big money to attack Cori. There’s no doubt they’re going to spend millions to smear us as “too radical” and stop us from bringing our people-first agenda to Congress.
We don’t accept a single cent from corporate PACs and special interest groups. That puts us at a disadvantage in fundraising, but we know this is the right way to power our movement if we want Cori to fight for the people’s priorities, not her biggest donors. That means we need to work extra hard to financially sustain this campaign and overcome the attacks we’ll face this election cycle.
As the Political Director for Team Cori, these challenges have been on my mind, and I know that one of the best ways we can prepare is by increasing the number of recurring, monthly donations our campaign receives.
Let’s do this,
Morgan
Political Director, Team Cori
PS: If you can’t afford to give monthly, we understand. You can still make a one-time contribution at this link if you are able.
