Hello

We are so excited to announce the launch of our newest mini course at the Ayni School, Leadership and Organizational Seasons. This self-paced mini course on Seasons and Seasonality is about the cyclical patterns that exist in our leadership and organizations.

The job of leaders is to respond to the problems of the world, but sometimes we feel we’re unable to. We might feel tired, unfocused, and with our mind-hearts somewhere else; or we might feel energetic but our organization seems to be unable to move, as if in a dormant state. In both cases, we feel this constant fight with ourselves and others, a constant unproductive tension.

At Ayni we believe we feel this way because we assume that our capacity to respond (our leadership) is never ending and upwards facing rather than cyclical, with ebbs and flows. In other words, there are times when we’re externally focused and there’s energy to do things and there are times when we’re in an internally focused state, where we seem dormant to the outside world but our energy is focused internally as opposed to externally. We believe that the framework of Seasons and cycles is necessary to cultivate and sustain leadership in our organizations.

Each stage in this cycle has a purpose, gift, and limits that can be applied to our lives, leadership, organizations, and movements. In this mini course we dive into our Leadership and Organizational Seasons specifically and provide answers to some of the common questions that come up when we’ve previously shared the framework:

  • What do Seasons look like in my leadership?

  • What should I be focusing on this Season?

  • How can we integrate Seasonality into our work and lives? What are some next steps I can take?

  • What should we do if I’m in one Season and my organization is in another?

It is our hope that this mini course can provide a framework to start thinking differently about our leadership and organizations, to recognize and honor the cyclical patterns that ebb and flow over time. By taking this into account, we hope to be able to discern not only what is the right strategic choice to make, but also when to make it.

In reciprocity,

Fhatima Paulino

P.S. - This mini course is an expanded excerpt from the Social Movements Course. It has been reformatted and repurposed as a standalone mini course which we will continue to add material and content to in the future. If you have already purchased the Social Movements Course, this course will be offered to you free of charge.
