Subject: Personnel Is Policy
Dear John,
Government action in 2021 has made a real difference in people’s lives—reducing child poverty, bolstering our economic recovery, and leading to the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years. All of this has been made possible by the people carrying forward a new paradigm for what government can do.
Be a progressive champion by renewing your support of the Roosevelt Institute today. ([link removed])
President Biden has appointed the most diverse cabinet in US history, resulting in some of the most progressive policies since the presidency of our namesake, FDR. With your support, the Roosevelt Institute has been proud to play a role in that transformation. Our student network is recruiting and training diverse young people to become policy changemakers. Four network alumni, along with 10 former Roosevelt staff members and fellows, have moved into important positions in the Departments of the Treasury, Commerce, and Energy among others; as well as the National Economic Council. And my appointment as US representative on the G7 Panel on Economic Resilience enabled Roosevelt’s work on wealth taxation and greener policies to go global.
But there’s much more work to do. Make your year-end gift to the Roosevelt Institute today to continue building on these successes ([link removed]) .
Beyond the work of individual people, it is clear that networks and movements matter. Time and time again we find ourselves tapping into the vast network of relationships and partnerships we’ve built over the years. Together, we’re able to push bold new ideas and change the narrative around what’s possible. To demonstrate how neoliberalism failed on its own merits. To show that you cannot separate economic policy from racial justice. You are an important partner in that work.
In 2022, we will keep strategizing and organizing and writing and pushing to fight for the high-care, low-carbon society that is within our grasp and that all people deserve. Please join us in this effort by renewing your support ([link removed]) today. Thank you for all you do to make our work possible.
With warmest wishes for a safe and happy holiday season,
Felicia J. Wong
President and CEO
PS: Your support today will ensure we have the resources we need in 2022 to make an equitable economy a reality. ([link removed])
