The American people voted for Democrats in 2020 to take action and deliver — to reduce prescription drug costs, fight climate change, pass paid leave, cancel student debt, protect access to abortion, and so much more.

But they haven’t done any of it. We agree with AOC:

By not taking action on the filibuster or student debt, with Biden breaking his promise to deliver investments for working families, and by failing to provide a pathway to citizenship — Democrats will suffer in the midterms.

And we’ve seen this play out before. When Democrats lose elections, they blame progressives. But it’s clear that the Democratic Party has failed to meet the urgency of this moment — and the American people are taking notice.

The vast majority of voters may know absolutely nothing about Joe Manchin, the infrastructure bill, or even Build Back Better. All they know is that Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress have failed to deliver on the policies that they campaigned on.

Establishment politicians don’t govern in the people’s interests, but then are surprised when they lose elections.

For months, corporate lobbyists called the shots and fought to remove progressive priorities in the reconciliation bill, strike down provisions for climate action, and water down spending for necessary and popular programs.
