Hello,
Senator Joe Manchin needs a lesson on sacrifice. If he thinks he will lose reelection because he supports President Biden’s historic Build Back Better plan, then so be it.
Nearly 40 years serving in the U.S. Navy taught me that sometimes the hardest thing to do and the right thing are the same.
When I was just a young captain in late 2002, the Bush White House ordered the Pentagon to plan the invasion of Iraq. I represented the U.S. Navy and was the most junior person at a table of political appointees and more senior officers.
When the vote was called, we had to vote for one of three invasion scenarios. I alone voted for a fourth option: No invasion. Sometimes you have to stand alone, not bow to political pressure, and just do the right thing.
Many Democrats lost their seats in 2010 after voting for the Affordable Care Act known as Obamacare. Imagine if they had instead sacrificed the health of our nation just for personal political gain.
In the Senate, I won’t be a “Joe Manchin Democrat.” I won’t kowtow to corporate PACs or special interests. I’ll always do what’s right for Iowa and for our country. That can’t be said of my Republican opponent Chuck Grassley, a 46-year-incumbent. He has Mitch McConnell and his Super PACs raising millions of dollars in a vain attempt to defeat me. Yes, they will come after me. I’m their biggest threat.
I’m not taking money from corporate PACs, so if I’m going to defeat Grassley, turn Iowa blue, and expand our Democratic majority in the Senate with Democrats who will actually vote like Democrats, I need grassroots donors like you to give now:
Please, can I count on you to chip in $5 or more right now to my campaign – whatever you can afford before our next fundraising deadline – to help me win next November and go to the Senate to vote for the people of Iowa and our country? Your support today is the only way we’ll be able to take on Chuck Grassley and Mitch McConnell’s millions. [[link removed]]

I’ve tried to live a life of service to others and my country. That will continue every day if I’m elected to the United States Senate.
Thank you for your support.
