John: Right now, the Senate is clearly broken. Democrats might have the majority, but with exactly 50 votes and none left to spare, they're struggling to pass transformative legislation. I know that for you this is likely frustrating, difficult, and frankly scary. But if you send me to the Senate, I promise that I will be the 50th vote we need to truly deliver change for the American people.

That's why I'm emailing you tonight, John. You see, my opponent Sen. Grassley (R-IA) is facing his worst job approval ratings in nearly four decades, and he has never been more vulnerable. Democrats must expand our Senate majority to make real progress for our country – and we have an opportunity to do it right here in Iowa.

If we flip this seat blue, Democrats will be all but GUARANTEED to expand our Senate majority. So please, can you rush a $5 donation tonight to expand our Senate majority and ensure that Democrats can pass transformative legislation to make life better for working families?

We need to expand our razor-thin 50-50 majority to keep delivering for the American people – to bring down the cost of prescription drugs, extend the Child Tax Credit, expand Medicare, secure paid family and medical leave, reform the filibuster and more.

We can do that by winning in Iowa. But Mitch McConnell knows exactly how vulnerable Sen. Grassley is, and he will do anything to protect his ally and take back the Senate. McConnell’s allies are already directly attacking me, and the Senate GOP campaign arm has raked in $85 million this year alone to defeat Democratic campaigns like ours.

We must be ready to compete with GOP spending and attacks. But I can't do that without a grassroots movement powered by people like you who care about moving our country forward. So tonight I need another $10,380 from grassroots supporters to meet my emergency midnight goal.
