Hey Indivisibles,

[ [link removed] ]You have probably heard some posturing from Senator Joe Manchin this
weekend. Us too. 🙄 

He has many people wondering, “Is Build Back Better dead?” To put it
simply, not at all. Senator Manchin is known for this sort of posturing,
[ [link removed] ]and this isn’t our first time dealing with pushback from him during
bill negotiation processes. Still not sure? Just this afternoon,
[ [link removed] ]Politico reported that Manchin and President Biden met this week and
agreed that negotiations will continue. 

So. This is messy, and we aren’t so much focused on Senator Manchin’s
words, as we are on making sure this critical legislation passes.

Don’t let Senator Manchin be the grinch who stole your winter break!

Activists like you have done such an amazing job this year putting
pressure on our elected officials. [ [link removed] ]Senator Schumer and President
Biden’s pledges to move forward with this legislation in the new year
would not have happened except for this massive grassroots campaign
telling them we refuse to accept defeat. 

That said, congressional staff have gone home for the holidays, so making
calls won’t necessarily be that effective over the next 10 days. That is
why for the rest of the year, we want you to get some rest and enjoy a
well-deserved winter break. Meanwhile, here at Indivisible National, we’ll
be preparing tools, campaigns and ads to get these bills across the finish
line, and will send you more details in the first week of January. (Don’t
worry, we’re also taking time off!) 

We hope you get that much needed R&R, because we are going to need renewed
energy in 2022, when we push for BBB and democracy reform to be passed as
quickly as possible. 

We know that it’s been a long year and so many of you are frustrated with
our Senate Democrats who need to get both the Freedom to Vote Act and
Build Back Better over the finish line. We are too. But, as we fight for a
bold recovery package and democracy reform, there is no one we would
rather be in this fight than with you.
