Some of you are tired of the reminders about the election, and the TFR recommendations [[link removed]]; even though we’ve written extensively about them weekly for three months, some people are just now asking about them. So thank you for your patience!

The widely respected Club for Growth released their review [[link removed]] of the Texas Legislature last month. Club for Growth is known for their work educating the public about the value of free markets, pro-growth policies, and economic prosperity. Receiving highest honors in the Senate [[link removed]] was Bob Hall (R-Edgewood), while Jonathan Stickland (R-Bedford) had the top score in the House [[link removed]]. Hall and Stickland were the only Texas legislators to receive the “Defender Of Economic Freedom” designation.

The Club for Growth’s rating saw Senate Republicans earn an average 80 percent rating, while Democrats averaged 30 percent. In the Texas House, Republicans had a 63 percent rating on the CfG scorecard compared to their Democrat colleagues 20 percent average.

Attorney and former Collin County Republican Party Chairman George Flint has formally announced his candidacy for the 401st District Court. Erin Anderson has the details [[link removed]].

In a new commentary, Jim Ellis explains [[link removed]] why it will be difficult for many of the lower tier Democratic presidential candidates to continue for the same financial reasons that forced out Texas’ Robert Francis O’Rourke.

Errata: In yesterday’s Texas Minute a joke was made about letting lawyers too close to public office. A state district judge didn’t like that one bit, and responded by saying lawyers have done too many great things for our country to not be held in the highest esteem. Yes, seriously. Apparently “sense of humor” is removed sometime between starting law school and becoming a lawyer elected to office; it is replaced with an over-abundance of “professional self-importance.” ​
