After months of dragging out negotiations and whittling down provisions, Senator Joe Manchin went on Fox News yesterday to say that he can't support the Build Back Better Act.

This is a betrayal of everyone who worked in good faith to pass the infrastructure bill into law and get Build Back Better through the House (with compromises already made to address concerns raised by Senator Manchin). But most of all, it's a betrayal of everyone in this country who stands to benefit from lower childcare costs, cleaner air, better healthcare, and affordable housing.

I'm not giving up. I refuse to accept that a coal baron who lives on a yacht can control what can and can’t be done in this country.

We need everyone – from the pundits, to Joe Manchin, to all the Republicans and special interests rooting for us to fail – to know that the American people won't back down in demanding action.
