You want to know the number one question I get asked every single day, John?

It doesn't matter if I am at the grocery store, at the airport, or visiting my doctor over at the VA. Not to mention the hundreds of social media messages I get every week with the exact same question: "Richard, will you be primarying Joe Manchin?"

Let me address the elephant in the room and tell you that no, I don't plan on running against Senator Manchin in 2024 -- and even if I WAS considering that, it wouldn't help us today.

Here's what I think:

As Democrats we are too short-sighted. Republicans play the long game and think 5-10 years ahead, with the logic that they have been able to completely control the federal benches all the way up to SCOTUS.

Meanwhile, Democrats chase the shiny object. And look, I'll be honest, John, I am guilty of that sometimes too. But we NEED to restrategize our approach.

I don't want to harp on the past, but just one plain example is that we are willing to raise half a billion dollars to defeat Ted Cruz who gets one vote in the US Senate -- but we completely disregard Senator Dan Sulivan from Alaska who also gets just one vote. We could have won that seat had we invested just a little bit more in Al Gross last cycle.

What we need to be focused on today is controlling things we can control.

No Dem Left Behind has endorsed four US senate candidates: Val Demings, Tim Ryan, John Fetterman, and Sarah Godlewski because we are not overlooking rural America in these critical swing states of FL, WI, PA, and OH.

And we can win all four of those seats and protect and expand our Senate majority control if we forget about Manchin and Sinema and their votes.

But right now, Democrats are getting our butts handed to us and being shamefully outraised by the GQP. As an organization, NDLB has had to make considerable cuts and even withhold some endorsements because we haven't had the necessary resources to support all of the Democratic candidates that we are eager to boost.

I know it's been a long year, John. We are all tired and frustrated. But let me ask you this: What is the alternative? Was our only goal to beat Trump? Or are we seeking to actually better the lives of working families and make bold systemic changes that will combat climate change, reform our gun policies, expand health care, and finally rebuild America?

If that's truly what our endgame is, then we need to keep our eyes on the prize -- the prize of delivering for the American people. And in order to do that, we've got to maintain Democratic control. So I'm asking you today to think long and hard about our long-term goals as we head toward the 2022 midterms. And if you're still with us in this in this fight and still believe in Democratic progress, please take action to help us protect and expand our Senate majority today.
