Dear neighbor:
As 2021 comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on how grateful I am to serve as your voice in Congress. This has been a busy year, and I’m very pleased with the progress that Democrats in Congress and the Biden Administration have made to help our country recover from COVID-19 and deliver for the American people. With the enactment of the American Rescue Plan Act, we’ve gotten people in jobs, children back in schools, and shots into arms. We’ve also delivered:
- $97M in tax cuts for families with children in CA-33
- $310M in restaurant grants for small businesses in CA-33
- $2.03B in shuttered venue grants for California businesses
- $15B for California K-12 schools to reopen safely
- $1B to help vaccinate communities across our state
- 917,000 new jobs for California workers
Below is an overview of the work my team and I have done this year on behalf of CA-33.
One of the major goals we accomplished this year was passing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, which was signed into law by President Biden. The new law will rebuild our nation’s crumbling infrastructure, invest in clean energy programs, and create millions of good jobs. Last week, I hosted a telephone town hall to discuss the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Dr. Sion Roy, Cardiologist at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, also joined the call to answer constituents’ latest questions about the COVID-19 virus and the Omicron variant. COVID-19 Updates
As COVID-19 cases rise in LA County, residents can still take steps to protect themselves and their loved ones against this virus. Getting vaccinated and boosted remains critical as holiday traveling and gatherings begin. The CDC is recommending booster shots for all eligible adults. To make an appointment, please visit VaccinateLACounty.com.
In addition, all LA County residents should continue to get tested to reduce the spread of COVID, especially if you are traveling or have traveled for the holidays, have had exposure, or have symptoms. Please also adhere to masking requirements when indoors or outside at large mega events, regardless of vaccination status. As of December 15th, masks must be worn in all indoor public settings throughout the state of California, regardless of vaccination status, through January 15th, 2022. With the new Omicron variant and holiday gatherings, masks are essential to reducing the spread.

Sincerely,
Ted W. Lieu Member of Congress
