John,
I just checked in with my finance team, and it looks like if we don't pick up the pace, we might not hit the fundraising goal we set at the beginning of the month. This isn't the news I wanted to give you today, but with our first public filing deadline of my re-election campaign approaching at the end of the month, we can't fall behind now.
The money we raise now will have a bigger impact than any last-minute surge before an election. We need to raise an additional $20,000 before midnight on December 31 when the books close on our campaign finance report.
My team said this email needs to raise at least $2,000 to get us back on track . I'm reaching out to my best supporters to see if I can count on you to help us close the gap. Will you chip in?

It took a strong grassroots team to win in 2018, but, we're gearing up for our toughest fight yet in 2022. Inside Elections, Cook Political Report, The Kansas City Star, AND Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight are all calling me one of the most vulnerable Democrats up for re-election in the country, so we can’t take anything for granted.
Everything from voter outreach, hosting campaign events, and building a volunteer program costs money. That’s why we need your help to make sure we head into the Election Year in a strong place.
We already defied the odds when we took back this seat in 2018, and we can do it again in 2022. I hope I can count on your support. If you're reading this and are ready to win in 2022, chip in what you can to help us reach our $20,000 goal.
