Hello John,
At Salisbury Cathedral on Christmas eve, there will be a Nativity service. Sadly, camels and donkeys will be exploited as 'props' for this event.
Salisbury Cathedral will be using three camels and a number of donkeys at their event. The camels are being paraded down the aisle of the cathedral, in amongst the rows of spectators.
Camels are legally recognised as wild animals in the UK. Travelling circuses have been banned from using them in their shows, in recognition that wild animals suffer. But frustratingly, camels can still be used in display events such as these. It doesn't make sense and sadly, animals suffer as a result.
The use of donkeys in nativity performances is much more common, but no less harmful. The Donkey Sanctuary has opposed the use of donkeys as human entertainment.
Please will you reach out to the cathedral and ask them to make a compassionate choice this Christmas?
We have contacted the cathedral and they haven’t responded to us. Now we need your help to get their attention.
TAKE ACTION!

Thank you.
