John,
In case you missed it, yesterday Joe Manchin stopped by Fox News and announced his intention to betray West Virginia seniors.
He wants West Virginia seniors to keep paying outrageous prices for prescription drugs. He wants to force West Virginia seniors to live in nursing homes, where COVID is running rampant, instead of aging in their own homes. He wants to deny West Virginia seniors hearing aids.
Those aren’t the words Manchin spoke. But by announcing his opposition to the Build Back Better Act, which would lower drug prices, fund home care, and expand Medicare, that is exactly what he said.
This isn’t over. Manchin’s hoping the pressure he’s feeling now will dissipate, that we’ll all stop fighting. That’s not going to happen. Read Michael’s email below about our plan to make sure that Joe Manchin hears from West Virginia seniors, then chip in $7 to keep our billboard trucks on the road!

― MICHAEL’S EMAIL ―
John,
I’ll make this quick:
Senator Joe Manchin just went on Fox News and told them that he’ll vote NO on the Build Back Better Act, which lowers prescription drug prices, allows Medicare to cover hearing care, expands access to home and community-based care, and makes necessary investments in families and fighting the climate crisis.
This is a betrayal of West Virginians. We know, because we’ve been driving billboard trucks around Manchin’s home state for 2 weeks now, making sure that West Virginians’ voices are heard. That’s why we’ve got Joe Manchin’s phone number right on the side of the truck:
We need to keep these trucks on the road more than ever! Can you donate $5 to keep them on the road into the new year, to keep the home-state pressure on Senator Manchin?
Senator Manchin is hoping that his announcement of opposition will take the pressure off him. It’s up to us to turn up the heat even more, so he can’t resist. We’re going to keep attracting West Virginia media and lifting up West Virginians’ voices until Senator Manchin does the right thing for his state.
Thanks,
