There is a solution that could add dramatically to efforts to protect the Earth’s climate, but it has seemed impossible for most members of the Homo sapiens species to become aware of it. The petition we delivered to COP26 and the events we did with it have encouraged us to believe that, in fact, this solution is knowable to people, and even to goverments. Here it is in very short summary:
Admit that militaries are huge contributors to climate collapse, that they cause all kinds of other damage, and that they serve no useful purpose.
To understand the full extent of that statement, and to persuade others of it, requires a good grasp of a fair amount of information. Without that level of knowledge, one can fall victim to claims that militaries are effectively greening themselves, or to assumptions that militaries can be tools for addressing climate collapse.
Luckily, World BEYOND War has gathered the information, weeded out the false or the dubious, organized the key points, and condensed them into a coherent online course for busy, active people. We've also recruited super-talented facilitators to assist our staff in presenting the course and working with participants.
War and the Environment will happen between January 17 and February 27, with the material divided into six weekly topics. This course is 100% online and interactions are not live or
scheduled, so you can take part whenever works for you. Weekly
content
includes a mix of text, images, video, and audio. Instructors and
students utilize online discussion forums to go over each week's
content, as well as to provide feedback on optional assignment
submissions.
