2021 Annual Report

The pandemic may be dragging on, but at Girls For A Change, we Bloom & Bounce Back, finding ways to continue to support, lift up, and energize Black girls in our programs. Our focus this year was on offering safe in-person experiences while continuing to help girls navigate the digital world. We are excited to share this year's Annual Report FULL of Black girl resilience, triumph, and joy.

2022 Programs

We have so much planned for 2022! Here's a look at what's coming.

Girls Who Code

3rd-5th graders will be working with Sister Katie to create and design musical beats using the power of code. Register here by creating an account or logging in and use the program code VA37080. We are also looking for speakers to share their career journeys. Register to be a speaker here.

6th-8th graders will be working with Sister Akela to engage with DojaCode, an interactive music video experience. Register here by creating an account or logging in and use the program code VA37082. Register to be a speaker here

Girl Ambassador Program

A workforce development program that teaches hybrid skills and real work experience to prepare for better paying jobs.

Girl Action Teams

A 12-week program for girls in grades 6-12 that facilitates team meetings to address challenges in the community.

Open teams:

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

Camp Diva Leadership Academy

A 6-week summer program for 6th-8th grade girls that focuses on STEAM experiences, character development, and leadership skills in a fun, dynamic environment.

Registration is open until 5/31

April 18-May 23
For girls aged 12-14. Girls will have the opportunity to plant seedlings, nurture them, and create ceramic planters while learning about plant cultivation, food justice, and diverse perspectives on finding ways to appreciate nature. Register here.

Immersion Lab

Applications for our Budding Black Female Entrepreneur Cohort will be open February 1-25. Gain mentorship and business knowledge to start and grow your business and opportunities to test the market selling your products at pop-up events. You do not have to have a business to participate. Details here.

This month, we launched the 1 Million Reasons to Build Campaign to purchase and renovate the Girls For A Change Chesterfield Branch. We're asking all Black girl champions and GFAC supporters to help us get to $1Million. If Black space and equity matters to you, support our campaign.
